- Bud Light’s “The Difference Is Drinkability” campaign – Ok… what does this mean, really? Doesn’t it mean that all other beers are undrinkable? So… Bud Light is the beer for people who don’t like beer. And this is supposed to make me want to drink Bud Light … how? If I’m going domestic light beer, give me a Silver Bullet (and the fake ex-NFL coach press conference ads too).
- Blackberry’s “All You Need Is Love” cover/travesty - There are bad Beatles covers, and then there are horrible Beatles covers like this one. Hearing this one makes me want to punch things. If I feel like listening to a cover of this song, I’ll go with the Echo and the Bunnymen version. (Also, in the course of writing this, I discovered that the Beatles have a MySpace page, as do Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Elvis… that’s weird, right?)
- Any Howie Long commercial for GM where he smugly emasculates non-GM drivers – No explanation necessary. Howie Long may be a nice guy in real life, but these ads make him seem like a real butthole.
- Jeep’s “Clocks” commercial promoting selfishness - Here’s the exact quote: “I could greedily, selfishly, seize every ticking moment, and never give one back. I live. I ride. I am. Jeep.” Ok, I get that the point is that we should take advantage of our time on Earth (by driving poorly constructed death traps?), but is this really the message we need to send to a society that’s already as selfish as they come?
Normally, when I post about something, I want to link my precious 3 readers to it, but you’ve probably seen these, and if you haven’t, you’ll be better off keeping it that way.
Instead, I’ll post one that I still laugh at every single time.
